Five years later, she opened Atelier Studio, an annex for the fast-growing company. .A local favorite of the fashion show and photo shoot community, she is often found leading show teams behind the scenes, and her styling work has been featured on the covers of Gentry, South Bay Accent, Scene, Gastronomique en Vogue and Salon Today magazines, as well as on the fashion runways for Santana Row, Innvision, and Vitamin Water’s Fashion Challenge. She has had opportunities to style Michael McDonald, Burt Bacharach, and Cindy Wilson of the B-52's, among others. She has provided cut and color services to the entire traveling cast of Cirque du Soleil's Corteo, and counts tech titans and sports stars among her clientele.
Recipient of both the North American Hairstyling Association's Salon Master of Business award and UCLA's Global Salon Business Award, Karie Bennett is no mere stylist. She is making an impact on the beauty industry by not just working IN it, but working on improving it, one hairdresser at a time. Her salons, Atelier, are honored annually by the Aveda Corporation for excellence in numerous areas, and she mentors and trains hairdressers of all skill levels, although she is happiest when she's behind the chair, making everyone happy and beautiful.
In honor of her 30th year as a hairdresser, Bennett celebrated by diving into a second career-–as a writer, and a third, as a business consultant and speaker. She is a Contributing Writer for Salon Today magazine, the nation’s leading salon business publication, and is also the Small Business examiner for San Jose’s examiner.com.
