Artistic director, editorial stylist, platform artist and educator, her work has appeared in countless magazines including Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Vanity Fair, Interview, Self, Lucky, In Style, Seventeen, and Cosmopolitan to name a few. Represented by Artists by Timothy Priano, Ruth maintains a busy freelance career.
Her celebrity clients have included Mariah Carey, Lindsay Lohan, Genna Fischer, Amy Adams, Laura Linney, Sheryl Crow, Claire Danes, Pink, Milla Jovovich and Mischa Barton. She has worked with renowned photographers such as Annie Leibovitz, Gilles Bensimon, Stuart Shining, Troy Word, Raphael Mazuco, Phillipe Solomon, Mike Ruiz and Ondrea Barbe. Her work has been on the runways of many designers during New York’s famed Fashion Week, and has graced virtually every leading salon industry magazine cover.
In 2003 Ruth opened RARE Salon in NYC’s downtown Tribeca, marking another milestone in her career. As creative director, she and the RARE Team are among the most sought after stylists in NYC. This hotspot is also home to the RARE Academy, where fellow stylists from around the world come to learn, grow and fuel their creative fire.
Ruth has been honored multiple times by the North American Hairstyling Awards, including Master Stylist of the Year, and is featured in the documentary, “Stars Behind the Chair: The Leading Ladies of Hair. She held the position of Global Artistic Director for Redken, and previously for renowned British hairdresser Trevor Sorbie. Most recently, Ruth is shining her brightest as Pureology Color Ambassador, and continues to demonstrate her impeccable skills while sharing her knowledge and motivating her peers and co-workers across the country, and around the globe.
She has traveled the world sharing her experience and new techniques with fellow professionals. A columnist for American Salon Magazine for five years, Ruth continues sharing her insight and experience through her refreshing, inspiring and (of course) humorous blog, 'Out There with Ruth Roche'. She has also been a contributing editor to Milady's Standard Textbook of Cosmetology, one of the leading textbooks for cosmetology schools. Her dynamite personality, humor and innovation keeps stylists falling in love with what they do and helps them realize their full potential. There is a reason why Ruth Roche has the staying power in the industry that she does; whether you are a fellow stylist in her class, a client in the salon, or a celebrity on the red-carpet, Ruth is the expert at making everyone feel beautiful by finding the beauty they were born with!
